The honor that Klingons have always impressed me. The militaristic society is very similar to Cardassians, but what Cardassians lack is the honor factor and the willingness to die in a fight, even if it is a losing one. Cardassians are more like a precise instrument where as Klingons are most like a blunt instrument. Watching Next Gen episodes with Klingons is a lot of fun.. in the series of things it’s the first real glimpse into Klingons since the Original Series where their history wasn’t exactly clear, but more like known as an enemy that in my opinion resembled the old Soviet Union.
I’ve always felt right at home with the Klingon’s sense of humor as well.. they’re blunt and their woman are on the violent side. I think I will continue to enjoy these rare episodes. One thing I think is sad about the Klingon Empire in later episodes and Deep Space 9 episodes is that the Klingons have seemed to become a little more than house broken pitbulls. They appeared to me as warriors with no war to fight, except when it came to the dominion war in the episodes of Deep Space 9. I realize that a couple of next gen episodes there was a Klingon civil war, but it doesn’t seem anything like the war with the Federation. For a society built on honor and the warrior code, it must suck not to have a clearly defined enemy with which to do battle.
